Rafal Interesting fact: Rafal’s uncle in Germany is named Alojs Andricki in Lusatian (Alois Andritzki in German). He was born in Radibor, Dresden, in 1914 and was murdered in Dachau in 1943. He was Rafal’s Mother’s first cousin. The Vatican anounced on December 10, 2010, that Father Alois Andritzki, a priest killed at Dachau, has been declared a martyr and is on his way to beatification. Pope Benedict XVI approved the decree, honouring Alois Andritzki, an anti-Nazi member of eastern Germany’s Sorbic minority, who was arrested in 1941 and killed by lethal injection at the concentration camp on Feb. 3, 1943 after falling ill with typhus. The beatification ceremony is the last formal step before possible sainthood; the ceremony is scheduled to be held on 13 June 2011, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Dresden (Germany). ================== The Sorbs, a Slavic people who have a culture dating back to the sixth century, are the largest surviving minority in eastern Germany.
