2012-09-30: Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park:
- Start of our journey into the past: Spring Street & 6th Avenue station. New York Subway Station, 1994, by Edith Kramer Creative Stations is a program of temporary art installations, sponsored by metropolitan Transportation Authority/Arts for Transit and MTA New York City Transit.
- Having traveled by subway to the geographic location of the Festival, we then took this time travel device that brought us to the time of the Festival.
- Having arrived at the Festival, we saw all kinds of ferries, ladies, knights and other characters quickly going to their anticipated adventures
- The Medieval Festival brings to life the customs and spirit of the Middle Ages. Manhattan’s Fort Tryon Park is transformed into a medieval market town decorated with bright banners and processional flags. Performers, guests and festival goers dress in medieval costume. Visitors are greeted by authentic medieval music, dance, magic, and minstrels, as well as jugglers and jesters. The afternoon is concluded with a thrilling joust between four knights on horseback. Costumed vendors will be on hand to demonstrate and sell a wide variety of medieval crafts as well as food and drink.
