So Rich, Catherine, and I had just settled down at a table at my company’s holiday party [Center for Strategic and International Studies], our plates full with food and my most boring colleagues beside us (that’s not entirely true — my boss was there, and she’s lovely) —— when an older couple climbed the steps and asked Rich if the seats next to him were free.
And that is how Rich and Catherine got to know Zbigniew Brzezinski and his bride, Emilie.
