Dear William, Daniel, Catherine, (and Michael & Baby Girl Y) (and your parents), (and any future descendants and their parents),
Last night, Babcia Krysia and I had the privilege of celebrating Cinco De Mayo with Daniel and his Parents. It was a wonderful evening, full of Margaritas, salsa, chips, and all kinds of Mexican foods.
Cinco De Mayo is an American (yes, American, like USA American) holiday (many people think that it is a Mexican holiday, celebrating the independence of Mexico; but NOT so), of relatively recent vintage, promoted mainly by restaurants and liquor companies; but, it is a fun day, so, I for one, am happy to celebrate it.
To see a video about Cinco De Mayo, go HERE.
Unlike me, though, Babcia Krysia is much less enthused about these “ethnic holidays.” Believe it or not, Babcia Krysia does not even get excited about St. Patrick’s Day.
As I understand it, because Babcia Krysia doesnot believe that she is Mexican, or Irish, she is not invested in these holidays. I, on the other hand, see these holidays as an excuse to celebrate! As I see it, I am the sunshine of celebration, and (as far as these “celebrations” go, Babcia Krysia is just a “wet mop” — just do NOT tell her that I think this of her; if she finds out, I will be in trouble!!!!!
Love,
Dziadziuś Paweł.
