Dear William, Daniel, Catherine, (and Michael & Baby Girl Y) (and your parents), (and any future descendants and their parents),
Yesterday I told you about my trip to the Borgata Casino & Hotel in Atlantic City. Well, I believe that fine ladies and gentlemen such as yourselves should be educated and knowledgeable in the ways of the world — not that you should partake in those ways, but you should be knowledgeable about them.
So, what goes on in casinos? Gambling!
[This reminds me of one of my favorite movies — “Casablanca“]

What kind of gambling? All kinds — BUT, remember, casinos are businesses, and they are in business to making money for their shareholders; and the way they make money is by paying out less in winnings than people pay-in in bets; so, on average, the customer always looses — customers may have fun; and they may occasionally win; but, on average, the customer always looses.
So, when I walk into a casino, what I most often see is rows upon rows of Slot Machines, with flashing lights and noises emanating from them. I think that is by far the MOST BORING activity in the casino, but others appear to enjoy it very much (perhaps because the price of participation is so inexpensive). Anyway, here is a video about Slot Machines for you to watch:
I want you to remember — there is NO MAGIC — the outcome is RANDOM! In high school and college make sure you learn about statistics and random numbers; much of life is influenced by random numbers.
In casinos you will often also find Roulette Tables. Here are two videos about Roulette for you to watch:
You may also see a Craps Table. Here are two videos about Craps:
Often, you will also see Blackjack Tables. Here are two videos about Blackjack:
Sometimes, you may also find Poker Tables. Here is a video about Poker:
I hope that you get from all of this is that gambling is NOT easy money; it is a game of chance; and it is in some way dependent on YOUR memory, and your mathematical abilities — YES, mathematics are IMPORTANT!
So, be aware of the world; be knowledgeable of the world; enjoy the world; and be ready to participate in the world — do NOT be fooled by those who are ready to take your money; know what the truth is; and be aware of random numbers, and probability; and study mathematics! And, discuss these topics with your parents — I am sure that they can give your many life lessons from THEIR lives. Ask them about their gambling experiences; and what advice they may have for you on this subject. They love you, and they want what is best for YOU.
Love,
Dziadziuś Paweł.
