Dear Alina I was born in Poland it is my country. In 1939 Poland was invaded by Germany. At that time all bad things happened. We were taken from our home by occupying Germans for slave-labor to Germany. It was difficult time hard work and no hope. After the war ended we were liberated by the America Army. We had to stay in displaced persons camp (D.P.) for 5-years waiting for immigration. We had a choice to go home or to immigrate to other places. We chose U.S.A. I came to America with my mother in the year 1950, by ship from Germany. It was a long journey (12-days on the sea) seing only water. You can imagine how glad I was when finally land and the Statue of Liberty apear. I still remember the excitement in that moment. We all rushed to take some picture. We had dreams about this land of opportunity and we were very excited to be here. After the inspection we … [were] released. We were peniles, so somebody had to … [help] us. We went to my friend house in Brooklyn
