May 12, 2015 — My DNA

Dear William, Daniel, Catherine, (and Michael & Baby Girl Y) (and your parents), (and any future descendants and their parents),

Yesterday I discussed with you Mitochondrial DNA. Today, I want to tell you about MY DNA.

First, some background:

A while back, I heard on television about a company that was offering to test your DNA for $100. I was interested, so I sent away for a kit. They sent me two test tubes, and I was instructed to fill them up with my saliva. I thought that this would be easy — it was NOT! When I finally did it, I sent them off to them. After a while, I was informed that my sample was taking longer than usual to process because they were having issues gathering enough DNA out of it; and had to resort to “special” procedures (they did not offer any further explanation). Eventually, [many months later] I received my report — here it is:

So, my ancestry is 99.7% European — no surprise here! But! Now I can PROVE that I am 1.9% Ashkenazi. Even the Jewish members of our family cannot do that!

So, it looks like my maternal line comes from Norway — I can see that; my Mom is blond, and so was her Mom.

My paternal side appears to come from Pakistan! That is a surprise — we all thought we were related to Genghis Khan — my Father was short, and had jet black hair, and so did his Mom, and his Sister.

But, maybe we are related to Genghis Khan!

I do not have much to say about this — actually, nothing!

Now here I really got interested! Apparently, the average European is 2.7% Neanderthal; but, I am ONLY 2.6% Neanderthal — I feel so much smarter!!!!!!!!

As you can see, many people wonder where they came from, and who their ancestors were:

Walentyna & Antoni Dzikowski

Zygmunt & Janina Kostro

So, as far as where I came from (in my recent past), these are my Grandparents
And these are my Parents:

12/24/1978: Irene & George Kostro

And this is me:

11/9/2014: Paul G. Kostro

Maybe some day you will have a chance to get YOUR DNA tested — I wonder what that will reveal about YOU?!

Love,

Dziadziuś Paweł.
