June 29, 2011 — Your Third Cousin, Once Removed — Liliana Kujawska

Dear William (and Daniel, Catherine, Michael & Baby Girl Y) (and your parents), (and any future descendants and their parents),

Did you know that you were born just a few days apart from your Third Cousin, Once Removed — Liliana Kujawska.

I think that it is interesting that chronologically (in time order) you are a few days apart; but biologically, you are a generation apart.

Your parents and I met Liliana’s family when we visited them in Turek, Poland on May 18, 2006.

The people in this photo are:
1. Irena Łagiewka from Obrzębina, daughter of Marianna Drzewiecka – Apolonia Weglewska’s sister
2. Your Babcia Krysia
3. Liliana’s Grandmother, Teresa Kujawska (nee Marciniak) (William — “nee” means “maiden name;” i.e., the name she was born with; “i.e.” means “that is”)
4. Elżbieta Stolarek from Turek, Teresa Kujawska’s sister
5. Zofia Lament from Kilania, Zdzisława Lament’s wife
6. Your Mom
7. Liliana’s Grandfather, Stanislaw Kujawski — we just got news that he died on June 19, 2011, in an accident
8. Zdzisław Lament from Kilania, son of Wiktoria Lament – Apolonia Weglewska’s sister
9. Your Dad
10. Liliana’s Dad, Damian Kujawski
11. Liliana’s Uncle (Damian’s Brother), Dawid Kujawski
12. Your Ciocia Malgosia
13. Me, your Grandfather.

You notice that Turek is close to Wrzesnia; which is close to Poznan; which is also close to Leszno.

Wrzesnia is where your Great-Great Grandfather, Michal Weglewski is burried. Michal Weglewski was the Father of your Great-Grandmother Irena Neumann (who is the Mother of your Babcia Krysia). We visited his gravesite when we were in Poland. Leszno is where your Great-Grandmother Irene Kostro grew up.

On this larger map, notice that in that neighborhood there is a place called Rawicz (1) — Rawicz, you may remember, is the name of our Family Coat of Arms.

I also marked for you where Leszno (2), Poznan (3), Wrzesnia (4) and Turek (6) are.

Notice that just North of Wrzesnia (4) is Gniezno (5) — Gniezno, you may remember was Poland’s first capital city.

I also marked for you where Warszawa (7) is — that is where my Father was born. My cousins Piotr Bobrowski and Roza Tomala still live in Warszawa with their families.

My cousins Lilka Tymowska, Kama Bittner and Alicja Stegawska still live in Poznan with their families.

Finally, I also marked for you where Olita/Alytus (8) is in Lithuania — you may remember that your ancestors lived there, and some are buried there.

William — you have a large family; get to know them, and appreciate them.

Love,

Dziadziuś Paweł.
