Dear William (and Daniel, Catherine, Michael & Baby Girl Y) (and your parents), (and any future descendants and their parents),

This morning I spoke about Family Trees — a Family Tree shows the relationships of people, from various points of view. For example, YOUR Ancestors Family Tree, from your perspective, going back only three generations, looks like this:

As you study this Family Tree Chart, you will notice that you are a very lucky fellow — YOUR name is William Ladd Kostro; your Parents decided that you will make a fine “William” and thus, they named you William. That is a wonderful name. And, even more amazing is that YOU were born in Williamsburg — you are William of Williamsburg. That is very neat!

Your name, however, is made up of three parts: (1) William; (2) Ladd; and (3) Kostro.

We discussed William already above; now as to your middle name, “Ladd” — again, you are very lucky; your Mom and your Grandfather Joe told me that this is a very good family, that goes back many generations in the United States. I must congratulate you, Sir, for having such a great middle name.

Now, as to you last name, “Kostro” — I am very proud of that name, and I hope that you also will be proud of it, and make all your ancestors proud to be related to you.

Kostro is an old Polish surname — that means that your Kostro ancestors came from Poland. The Kostro family is a Roman Catholic family, and was part of Polish nobility — that means that at least one of your ancestors was a knight!

As a noble family, the Kostro family belongs to a clan — the Rawicz clan. All members of the Rawicz clan have the same Coat of Arms. It looks like this:

The important part of the Coat of Arms is the woman with a crown on her head, sitting side-saddle on a black bear facing to the left, with her arms bent-up, with her palms facing forward — everything else is decoration.
