Dear William, Daniel and Catherine (and Michael & Baby Girl Y) (and your parents), (and any future descendants and their parents),

When William was born, I started writing letters to him, with the intent that they would be available to all my grandchildren (if I had more than one). Once Daniel was born, I wrote to William and Daniel. Eventually, though, I stopped writing letters (before Catherine was ever born) because my attention was drawn to other tasks.

Now, however, I would like to resume this form of communication with you (and any other of my grandchildren and great-grandchildren who may be born hereafter, and the rest of my family who may read these letters). But, before I do so, let me review what has been done so far:
